2022 Football World Cup May be Played in Winter
The president of FIFA, football's governing body, admitted on Monday that awarding the 2022 World Cup to Qatar may have been a mistake. Staging the tournament in the Middle East has caused much controversy because if it is held over its traditional dates in the summer months, players and fans will have to contend with searing 50 degrees Celsius heat. Some are now calling for the World Cup to be played during the winter months when the weather in Qatar is more suitable for a football match. However, this idea has drawn criticism because it would cause disruption to domestic league competitions in European countries such as Spain, England, Italy, Germany and France. In 2010, Qatar defeated bids from South Korea, Japan, Australia and the United States to win the right to host the football tournament for the first time.

Apple Releases Guide for Android Users Who Want to Switch to iPhone

After the announcement of the new phones, Apple said it had processed more than 4 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus pre-orders on the first day of pre-launch sales, doubling the previous iPhone 5 pre-order record set in 2012.

Speaking at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, DC, Gates said that as the costs for robots and technology go down, the demand for low-skilled jobs will also decrease. He said that governments might eventually have to reduce taxes to persuade big businesses to continue hiring human employees rather than investing in robots to fill the job. He went on to say that even high-skilled workers such as accountants, commercial pilots, astronauts and police officers are at risk of being replaced by AI-based robots in the future.

Bangkok named World's Best City
Bangkok has once again been named the "World's Best City" by Travel & Leisure magazine. The Thai capital has received the honor in each of the last four years. The title of world's best city was determined by questionnaires the magazine sent to its readers. When the responses were compiled, Bangkok topped the list with a score of 90.42%, followed by Istanbul, Turkey at 89.9% and Florence, Italy at 89.8%. Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand ranked 10th with a score of 88.1%. The magazine said each city was rated according to six criteria: sights, culture/arts, restaurants/food, people, shopping, and value. The magazine will formally present the award to the Bangkok governor on July 18 in a ceremony in New York City.

E-Cigarettes May Be as Effective as Patch to Help Smokers Quit
Taking a drag from an e-cigarette may be just as safe and effective as using a nicotine patch for smokers struggling to quit, according to new research. The study found that about one in 20 people who used either patches or e-cigarettes managed to quit completely six months after the test started. Also, users of electronic cigarettes were more likely to have cut their use of real cigarettes in half, even if they didn’t quit entirely. Some analysts said that the study results will allow health professionals to feel better about recommending e-cigarettes to smokers, or at least condoning their use. The study's authors said the e-cigarettes are an effective way to help people quit smoking because they replicate a lot of the ritualistic behavior people have about smoking: getting a cigarette out, putting it in their hands, touching it, and the sensation of smoke in their lungs.
